We usually wear costumes of one sort or another when we perform publicly. If the truth be told, we are likely hired as much for our looks as for what we might play. Nevertheless, our enthusiasm, elan and artistry soon make it clear that we offer more than meets the eye. In any case, the costumes are an essential element if we are performing any early dance.
We have recently designed & assembled a set of 'livery' outfits. Historically, players hired and maintained by a noble, or at least wealthy, household, or perhaps as a 'town band' would wear matching outfits identifying them as such, and featuring the colors of their patron. We designed livery which would not be too time or place specific, so that we would feel properly dressed for most of the historical settings we evoke.
We plan to include here brief information on renaissance clothing and links to useful costume & dance sites. Look for it when you return.
