Our 3rd Big reunion has taken place, all be it much smaller than previous ones. Everyone still enjoyed themselves meeting new friends and new finds like Ricky Little, who Jenny (Holmes)Ball had a great time chatting and reminiscing over the past 40 odd years. Zandra (Gourde) Bailey, over from Jersey one of the last pupils at school before it closed, meeting up with several other new finds Frank Brooks, Paddy McGuire, and his sister.
I am always pleased to meet all Slimmers this time was especially good for me to meet up with Jeanette (Inglis) Owen and Pam (Swift) Gutsell to name but a few.
We all had a good look at the memorabilia, brought along and purchasing the 2004 Reunion book along with Badge pins, and first day covers of Field Marshall Slim and the anniversary of the closure of the School, these were put together by Tony Talbot. (these items may be purchased from Tony)
It was so nice to meet John and Freda Hird, teachers from 1959/61, who came for lunch but have since said they will come for longer next time!
Our long distance members like Terry McGuire (Newell) and Bill Montague travelled from Canada, and Neil brewer and his wife Pam came over from Australia.
As many of the Slimmers that came to this reunion will know of the difficulties I have had with the Aztec Hotel Bristol (will not go into detail as it is in the hands of the solicitors) I will be looking for a different venue for 2006
