Gulls Record Tops in Minor Pro Hockey
BOISE, Idaho, Mar. 11 - For the third consecutive season, the San Diego Gulls have claimed the
Founders Cup as West Coast Hockey League regular season champions. The Gulls earned the award
with a 3-2 road victory on Monday against the Tacoma Sabercats, and as a result, they will have
home-ice advantage throughout the 1998 Taylor Cup Championship playoffs.
San Diego has a record of 47-8-1 with 95 points and a .848 winning percentage. The Gulls
winning percentage is tops among all teams in the WCHL, American Hockey League (AHL),
International Hockey League (IHL), Central Hockey League (CeHL), East Coast Hockey League
(ECHL), United Hockey League (UHL), and Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL). Here is how
the league leaders in North American minor professional hockey rank by winning percentage

BOISE, Idaho, March 2 - The West Coast Hockey League Player of the Month for February is
defenseman Darren Perkins of the San Diego Gulls. For the month, Perkins tallied 23 points on
five (5) goals and 18 assists and posted a +19 rating in 13 games. For the season, he leads the
WCHL in plus/minus at +62 and is second in scoring among WCHL blueliners with 54 points on 15
goals and 39 assists. Perkins was the WCHL's 1995-96 Outstanding Defenseman.
