GULLS SOAR TO TAYLOR CUP CHAMPIONSHIP...

Fresno, CA...The San Diego Gulls put the finishing touches on a fantastic
season as they defeated the Fresno Falcons three games to one, in the best
of five, Taylor Cup Playoff Finals.  The Gulls, winners of an amazing 49
games in the regular season (49-7-2), finished off the Falcons in dramatic
fashion as Ralph Barahona took a feed from Clark Polglase and slipped the
puck past Fresno netminder Angelo Karitsiotis to break a 2-2 tie with only
10 seconds remaining in regulation.  San Diego goalie Sergei Naumov was
again outstanding in goal as he stopped 34 of 36 shots.

SERGEI NAUMOV NAMED PLAYOFF MVP...

Fresno, CA...Sergei Naumov was named playoff MVP as he turned in a
dazzling performance, leading the San Diego Gulls to the first ever West
Coast Hockey League Taylor Cup Playoff championship.  Naumov ended the
playoffs with a 6-3-0 record and a sparkling 2.46 goals against average to
go with a .924 save percentage.  In the regular season Naumov played in
all but one San Diego game on his way to a 48-7-2 record and the league's
top goaltender award.

San Diego Celebrates...

The Gulls celebration, as one might expect, began on the ice in Fresno on
Friday night following their dramatic 3-2 title clinching victory.  Then,
upon returning to the Sports Arena, the Gulls found hundreds of fans
anxious to join in their celebration.  A final celebration party will be
held on Tuesday, April 16, 1996 at the Baja Brewing Company, located on
5th Avenue in downtown San Diego.  The festivities begin at 7:00 PM and
the public is invited...

Taylor Cup Highlights...

*	San Diego's power play unit clicked on 13 of 36 chances for a
	spectacular 36.1% efficiency rating.

*	Brad Belland of the Gulls lead all playoff scorers with five goals
	and, a playoff high, 13 assists for 18 points or an average of two
	a game.

*	San Diego's Doug Torrel notched eight goals in nine games to lead
	the way in that category.
