Stirlings Half Ridgewalk October 2006

(Jons Bucks weekend)

Some photos;

At the bottom of North Mirlpunda. Dave and Nate relax with a short food and drinks break, before we started the tough, harrowing climb up North Mirlpunda soon after. The mountains in the background make up much of the Stirling ridgewalk alpine stuff.

By the twilight we would be almost at the top of First Arrow..., but as it was getting dark we needed to setup for the night soon. Being basically on a steep slope verging on cliff, we found a small cave not far below the summit of First arrow. perched on the side of the mountain like an eagles nest with a yawning 800m sheer drop below, I was just hoping I'd get out of this alive, but at the same time the view was so magnificient, and it was a thrill just to admire that!!!

Bedtime on the side of the mountain, just enough space for us to stretch out our sleeping bags, I was worried my sleeping bag would fall out of the cave, but it didn't...But that dixie was surely indanger of being blown over the edge...

A nocturnal (reminds me of a rippin' Mortification song off Scrolls of the Megilloth...)view from our cave for the night. My subZero explorer sleeping bag came in handy! As did my new orange adventureline beanie!

Howling winds during the night, and woke up to a blanket of cloud...before th sun came up and the visibility returned...

Dave enjoying the sheer view from the cave, with a mad smile!

Me peering over the yawning chasm with my commando jacket on, admiring the view...
I think this is on top of First Arrows or nearby, as we started the real mountain summit hopping the next day......
A perfectly thrilling,challenging Bucks weekend to remember forever!!! Thanks God for getting us out of this alive, and Thanks Dave and Nathan for the exciting idea, and organisation!!!
So the next question is, when can I go again...Dave and Nathan have been back a few times, I have not, but I do want to!!! I have not done hte full ridgewalk yet either... Back to stirling ridgewalks main page
