Photos inside the Olympic stadium

.......
north eastern and south eastern (mainly eastern) ends of Stadium Australia. (The flame is at the northern end, but obscured here.) These photos were all taken about 7.55am before the stadium started to fill up with spectators which it rapidly did later on. By 10am there was only an occasional spare seat as far as you could see. Some of the roving cameras were interesting. There was one that appeared on a long wire high up taking shots of the crowd, and there were the ones on rails around the track... You can see a lot of the flags of different countries on the roof of the stadium here.

My pathetic panorama attempt. If you look carefully you can see the racewalkers warming up on the far side of the track. (its ant-like stuff with the camera I was using! so try the zoomed in (via photoshop) photos at the bottom of this page... )

You can see some of the smaller sound speakers just above the scoreboard. flags of all the countries of the world were on the roof of the stadium covering the length of the east and west sides, see the photos above.

56 starters in the 50km walk last three;
Dion Russell Australia
Valenti Massana Spain (ESP)
Aigars Fadejevs Latvia (silver medallist)
on the scoreboard here. World and Olympic Records in the top righthand corner of scoreboard. (3.37 and 3.38).
