Jon's Quinns Rocks Triathlon Photos page

21st April at Quinns Rocks;
Swim was a bit poor, but easier (and better?) than Secret Harbour. A bit "lumpy" and NIL underwater visibility, but no jellyfish this time, and no troubles getting to the shore.
Transition was terrible, lost a few minutes there, really need to plan that so as I dont waste so much time there.
This probably made my cycle time about 2-5min longer than it was, but then again that is effectively a longer recovery time.

Cycle was the toughest one I've done so far with lots of demanding rolling hills. However I went very well, I think easily my best cycle leg so far considering the hills.....
Run was ok but when I tried to push the pace about 1km in I got a bad stitch or something, and had to walk that out...Reasonably hilly run course. I estimate high 13-14min based on my wristwatch.
Estimations were pretty accurate....

Official total time: 56min 49secs (83rd of 90 finishers)

....11 DNS,1 DNF...and 1 or 2 doing a 5km bike leg.....*LOL*....
Swim 14min 14.....(89th of 90)
Cycle 28min 40......(79th ...(or better) of 90?)
Run 13min 55....(43rd..(or better) of 90)

Before the race I set up my bike in the transition area, signed in at the triathlon truck

got my numbers written on my shoulder and thigh, and strapped a timing thing around my ankle (here are some of those;)

The panoramic views were pretty nice;

at the end of the 300m swim I ran under this sign

and past the first timing board to arrive in transition;

After getting organised several minutes later I walk/ran with my bike to the bottom of this climb;
where I could start riding
There was 2 laps of a very hilly 5km course, which included some tough climbs and a very steep downhill section which I could get a lot of speed on..cool! The run wasn't too hard... 2 laps of a fairly straightforward 1.5km loop, and then finally you get to the finish and run through the last timing board;
...
there is something quite interesting about this photo...*LOL*....
After the race; tired,HAPPY, satisfied.
Lucozade,Powerade and Killer pythons on the menu. Get the bike into the car and head for home.
