GAME 2

GOAL scored on Tretiak
Tretiak has a sub-par game
For Game Two in Toronto, Canadian coach Harry Sinden revamped the lineup, adding a sixth defenseman compared to the five used in Game One, and the Canadian played a much sounder game.

The highlight of the game came in the 3rd period with Canada ahead 2-1 and playing shorthanded. Esposito just blasted the puck out of his own end to center ice where it was picked up by Peter Mahovlich. He ended up one on one with Russian defenseman Poladyev (who didn't play much after that). Mahovlich faked a shot and slid the puck by him and cut in front of Tretiak. Mahovlich deked to the right and then used his long reach to tuck the puck behind Tretiak, finishing up by falling over the Russian goalie with one of the best looking goals you'll ever see.

Hometown favourite Frank Mahovlich completed the scoring for a 4-1 Canadian win.
