EUROPEAN CUP AND OTHER NEWS ABOUT UKRAINIAN TEAMS
                                    EXCLUDING DYNAMO KIEV

***Shakhtar Donetsk asked its opponents in the UEFA Cup Qualifying Round to reschedule the  match from August 12 to the tenth.  Apparently, Shahtar wants enough time to get ready for
the all-important game of the national championship against Dynamo Kiev.  As for the possi-
bility of moving the Kiev match to winter, Shaktar said that the fans are not really interested in
soccer when there is snow outside.  The match against Dynamo is on the 15th, while the UEFA
match has officially been rescheduled for the 10th.

***Dnepr's head coach Koltun resigned after a calamitious start of the Premiership, citing his  mother's health as the number one reason.  The main candidates for the job are now the ex-
Arsenal Tula and Russian Junior Soccer team coach Evgeniy Kucherevsky.   According to him,
there have not been any negotiotiations scheduled; he, however, has gotten offers from other
Ukrainian teams, but has turned all of them down.  Dnepr was coached by Fedorenko and Ya-
kovenko in the game with Shahter.

***After Alexandef Palyanitsa's transfer to Kryvbas, Ivan Hetsko became the go-to guy in Lviv.
After  getting lucrative offers from Makkabi Tel-Aviv, Torpedo Moscow, Lokomotiv N. N., Roda
Holland, and Chornomorets Odessa, he decided to stay with Karpaty and end his career in
Lviv.  He didn't want to leave his family, which resides in Odessa, but at the same time refused
to play for Chornomorets because its only goal was to stay in the premier league.  Ivan wanted to be a part of a competitive team, and that's where he is now.  Despite being 31 years old, he
is by far the greatest contributor in Kryvbas, and before the season is over, he will net many
goals and become a serious contender for the goalscoring title in the Ukraine Premiership.
