C. CONCLUSION ON THE WINNING BY PLACE PROGRAM
SUMMARY
(PTFA) has developed an adult track and field league program. We have a system called the "Double Scoring System". This system is the procedure for recognizing the team scores from track meets and using those scores to create team league standing information. The two components of this program are:
This system is the second part of the "Double Scoring System" and is dependent on the internal team scores.
As mentioned earlier, the External Scoring System reflects team standings in the league. The league leader is dertermined either by the highest point score or by the most number of first place meet finishes.
Here, we determine the league leaders by their meet standings. Who has the most first place finishes?
This is a very exciting program !
Teams internal score can be carried over into each subsequent meet, like a running balance of a check book.
Example 1.
Lets say we have four (4) meets scheduled for the season and we have a four team league. The maximum internal point score a team can earn is 300 points (i.e. - add all of the internal points "N-pts." in meet 1 = 300 pts). Our results might look something like this.
Example 1.
The good thing about this system is that external team score "records" can be established and broken per meet and per season. The down side to this system is that the numbers can get very big. And with a bigger schedule, to big for most fans to follow and diligently keep track of.
Back to "Highest Points Scored"
The internal scores will always determine the winner by highest point total. But, instead of carrying the totals over to the next meet, carry over a fraction of the scores. We do this by placing a decimal point one or two places to the left of the internal scores. i.e.
Example 2.
Example 3.
These methods provide a simpler way for our spectators to keep count of overall team standings. These methods do not require a championship meet.

1. The Internal Scoring System
2. The External Scoring System
There are two (2) ways to convert internal scores to recognize the league leader by the point score.
It puts a lot of teams into a bragging posture and forces all the teams into a championship meet !! How does it work ?(See P.2)
