Hentgen returns to Toronto
11/19/03 - Pat Hentgen has just signed a one-year deal worth $2.2 million to rejoin the Jays, for whom he played for from 1991-99 (the highlight being his '96 Cy Young season). The Jays also announced a trade for Oakland's Ted Lilly, giving up Bobby Kielty and a player to be named. The rotation looks a lot better now. If Kelvim Escobar can be re-signed... By the way, if you're still on this site, thanks for the support but it's pretty much dead. Oh yeah, Roy Halladay convincingly won the AL Cy Young after not getting a single vote last year. Carlos Delgado finished second in AL MVP voting, but he and Vernon Wells were named Silver Sluggers at their respective positions for the AL.

6/1/03 - I stop updating this site, and the Blue Jays start winning again. To sum up... after a 10-18 April, the Jays have gone 21-8 in March, setting a franchise record for wins in a single month. Carlos Delgado and Vernon Wells are 1-2 in RBI in the AL. Actually, Delgado is tearing it up in every category, reminding people of 2000. The catching platoon of Greg Myers and Tom Wilson has exceeded all expectations, Mike Bordick and Dave Berg have been invaluable fill-ins, Orlando Hudson and Chris Woodward have been solid up the middle with above-average production, and Cliff Politte has taken over the closer role. The only downers are that Eric Hinske is out for some time after hand surgery, and the Jays pitching needs improvement. Something to look for in June: the Jays will go with a four-man rotation as they try to get Roy Halladay and Cory Lidle on the mound as much as possible. That's it for now.

3/03 - It will have been 10 years since the Jays won the '93 World Series, but could they possibly go all the way in 2003? For a little surprise, check out EA Sports' MVP Baseball 2003 season simulation. The title of the article: "Surprising Blue Jays Take Home 2003 World Series Trophy."
