We are just beginning our Gold Award requirements. We are also working on raising money to take a trip to Florida in July. Our cookies sales are just beginning and we each have a goal of selling at least 500 boxes. We will see who reaches their goal. :) Almost all of us achieved our Silver Award last year and were acknowledged by all our local politicians with such recognition as Proclamations and Certificates of Meritt. Our Leader, Debby was also acknowledged as well for her dedication to scouting and working so closely with us. We all also received personal congratulations from the President of the United States. We are now at the very beginning stages of meeting the requirements for our Gold Award. We have participated in many service projects and maintain a very active status in our community. In the past we have helped in the following areas: Park clean-ups, holiday caroling in the community as well as a low income housing facility, historian home tree decorating, many food drives, distribution of greeting cards to the Senior Citizens and many other items. We have also recently participated in an airport disaster drill. We role played fallen victims of an aircraft carrier crash. This afforded the opportunity to local EMS, fire fighters, police, Red Cross, and other specially trained medical technicians, to practice their preparedness in emergency situations. This is the second time we have participated in such a drill. We are always prepared to volunteer our services to help our community in a time of need.
