Aladdin's  Lamp

If I could touch Aladdin's lamp
And make a wish come true
I'd wish for many happy days
and wish the same for you.
I'd wish for things that are lasting
Some joys that would not end
The fellowship I've had with you
And the love of a friend.
I'd wish for time to ever behold
The magic of Nature's call,
And see the changing seasons
With  Spring the best of all.
For if we have no time to see
A tide that ebbs and flows
We're too busy, much too busy,
If we can't smell a rose.
Or see stars come out at night
Each one a candle shine.
I'd wish each day that I might hear
The old church bells's chime.
But I don't need Aladdin's lamp
for there are those who doubt it
I'd only wish for a friend like you,
And I found you without it.
