HEART  CLEANING

Today I started heart cleaning,
A task long overdue,
And just like the rooms of my house
My heart was cluttered, too.
Some bits of old heartaches had gathered
Like just that's undisturbed
That needed the broom of my mind
Or else they'd lie uncurbed
The weeds of doubt had been growing,
Sending deeper their roots,
Smothering seeds of compassion,
Nipping love's tender shoots.
But those seeds of compassion
With love I can make them grow.
And replace those weeds of destruction
With love's soft, golden glow.
And those worries and those heartaches,
Borne with some halting tears
Today I started heart cleaning,
Removing doubts and fears.
Today my heart can sing a song,
And sweeter notes impart.
There's music in my soul since I
Started cleaning out my heart.
