Answers to DISNEY Trivia

Mickey Mouse (November 18, 1928)

1. According to Walt Disney, the idea for Mickey Mouse came to him while traveling on a train from New York back to California. He had just lost his rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and he came up the idea for the mouse. He originally called him Mortimer, but his wife, Lillian, convinced him to change it to Mickey Mouse because it sounded cuter.

2. The original voice of Mickey Mouse was actually Walt Disney himself. In 1946 James Macdonald took over the job and he held it until 1983, when Wayne Allwine, the current voice took over.

3. Ub Iwerks was asked by Walt Disney to animate the very first Mickey Mouse cartoons, a task he did almost single-handedly.

4. A child's school tablet in 1929.
