How do I make a webpage??
First, you gotta want to put(and have) the
time and energy into it. Second, you gotta have some determination,
and third, you gotta have an idea of what you want to create. If you have
all those, then you can look for a place to put your webpage or upload
to. My page is hosted by geocities
and it's a great place to start whether you know lots or know nothing.
You can also try tripod, xoom,
angelfire, or homestead.
Homestead is very simple so it might be good for beginners(and they don't
have pop-ups) Sign up and follow the instructions and before you
know it you'll have a page. Your isp(internet service provider) probably
provides webpage space too so if you just need a place to upload to, you
can use that and they probably don't have ads that will ruin the look of
your page. Don't be discouraged if your page doesn't look like some
of the pages you've seen out there on the www. You could enlist the
help of a patient friend to help you! Learning new skills take practice
and experience. Don't forget to have some fun! =)
Where do I find the graphics for my page??
It depends on what you want. Most hosts
like geocities or xoom have free graphics for you and you can just use
theirs. If you do a search, you can find all sorts of free graphics
and backgrounds to use. Lots of people put lots of work into making
them and provide you with free graphics as long as you provide a link to
their page and give them credit. It's bad to knowingly steal people's
graphics so be nice and follow their instructions. Also note that simplicity
might actually make for a better webpage. Busy backgrounds might
make things look messier or harder to see or read.
The coding to insert a picture is(replace
the bold with the url for your pic):
<IMG SRC="http://fileofpicture.gif">
Fonts??
What you see and what some other person sees
might not be the same thing. This is because people only see what
their computers are capable of. It might depend on their browser(I
like IE 5.00), and the fonts they see depend on what fonts they have on
their computer. It's better to use a simple font that most computers
have rather than using a fancy one that most people cannnot see.
The coding to change the font, font size,
and color is:
<FONT FACE="nameoffont" font color=coloryouwant><H5>whatever
text you want in between</FONT></H5>
Colours have specific names like cornflowerblue
or just red.
If you want to know
about what other colours are out there, check out Diana's
Rainbowy Colour Picker.
The <H5></H5>
changes the size of your font. The larger the number, the smaller
the font.
Can you make a page for me??
A webpage should be an expression of yourself.
If someone else does it for you, then it's not really YOU. Ask someone
for help but your webpage should be composed of your ideas and be from
your imagination. =) Also, I don't really have the time to
make pages for people. It feels good to know that you did it yourself
rather than having someone do it for you.
What can I put on my webpage?
Almost anything except pornography and stuff
like that. It's mostly limited to your imagination. You can
make a personal page which tells people about yourself, your friends, your
interests, and your life. You can post up pictures(use thumbnails).
Just don't give too much information like where you live and stuff like
that because once it's uploaded, ANYONE can have access to your page.
How do I put music on my page??
Most of the music you hear on pages are midi
files(which are very small) and sometimes they are wavs. Before I
go on, I must warn you that many people just get annoyed by the midis on
webpages even though you might like it a lot. So a webpage without
midis might be better than one w/ them. My other
page(first page) has midis but I chose to not have them playing on
this one. First you gotta find the midis you want. You can
search the www for pages that have them. I have two midi
pages that I've created and you can search them for stuff you like
and then download and upload them to your own page. If you like sailormoon,
I also have a sailormoon
midi page =). Another great midi site is AWP.
The coding to put music on your page is:
<EMBED src="http://nameoffile.mid"
volume=90 autostart=true loop=true controls=smallconsole height=15 hidden=false
visible=true>
What is a thumbnail
and how do I make them?
Pictures(jpgs) can take FOREVER to load so
if you have a bunch of pictures you want to show then it's bettter to use
thumbnails that people can click and view the full size picture.
Thumbnails are usually gifs and smaller than the full size picture.
Almost all graphic programs let you resize pictures. Just resave
the picture in a smaller size and as a gif. Then link the thumbnail(gif)
to the jpg file. The coding for a thumbnail is:
<A HREF="http://www.fileofthefullsizepic.jpg"><IMG
SRC="http://www.thumbnailfile.gif" border=0></a>
Just replace the bold with the (url)address
for your picture and thumbnail.
How do I make a link?
If you want to put a link on your page(something
that people click on that brings them to another page), then you can just
use the simple code below.
<A HREF="http://urlyouarelinkingto.html">my
friend's page</a>
What is bubbletea?
I've made reference to this drink a few times
in my page and I've actually received an email asking what this concoction
was before. =Þ I'm not really a bbtea expert(just a bbtea
addict..heehee) but I'll try to answer this the best I can. To begin
with, it's a Taiwanese drink(non-alcoholic). It comes in a variety
of yumee(sweet) flavours such as mango, strawberry, green tea, regular
milk tea, peach, taro, and so on... Lately my favourite is cookie
sherbert. The flavours depend on the place you get the bubbletea
at and new flavours are created all the time(kinda like ice cream flavours).
You can get fresh flavours or powdered usually. They can also be
cold(usually it's cold), warm, or slushy. You can also choose from
clear or milky sometimes.
To drink the bubbletea, once must use a gigantic
straw because there are tapioca pearls in the tea. The pearls are
sweet and kinda chewy and if they're fresh, they would not be too hard.
You can substitute the pearls with coconut jelly which is good also.
Now on to WHERE you can get the bbtea.
Where I live, there are lots of places to get great bbtea because we have
a big chinese population here. Usually you go to bbtea houses where
they serve only bbtea(and light snacks at some places) and you would go
with a group of friends to hang out and drink bbtea. My fav place
to get it now is dragonball(oak and king edward in Vancouver).
NOTE: your first experience with
drinking bubbletea might not be a good one because some places make HORRIBLE
gross tasting bbtea(according to my friends some place near the joyce skytrain
station and from my experience that bbtea place at metrotown besided T&T
called desert dynasty). So if your first experience wasn't good,
it might just be the place that makes it.
I think I would like bbtea everyday but it
doesn't come that cheap. It's around $3.50 Canadian dollars for one
cup of bbtea. But it's worth it cuz it's so yummi! =)
Where did you find the poetry, quotations,
etc??
I recieved most of the funny and inspirational
stuff by email from friends. I found the poetry and lyrics by searching
the www. The quotations I most got from the quotes group on Collegeclub.
Do you have ICQ; May I have your UIN?
I prefer to be emailed.
I do check my email on a pretty regular basis.
Who are you? How old are you?
Do you have a boyfriend and etc?
I think I answered most of the personal questions
I care to answer on my survey
page.
Are you nuts, crazy, weird??
If you don't really know me in person, then
you probably formed some kinda picture of me in your mind based on what
you've read, seen, and what I allow you to know or let you think.
To be honest I, too, am still trying to figure out who I am. =Þ
