One Magic Night
Bethlehem Our LittleTown
I've read about those places where everything is fine
where people haven't time to work, they have a real good time.
i'd like to have that kind of fun, why can't it happen here?
But Bethlehem's the same old place year after boring year!
I wish that something special would happen in this town
If only something marv'lous could make us up not down,
We need a magic day or two to turn our world around
In Bethlehem our little town.
Perhaps a trav'lin circus could happen by this way,
Or Internet or Basketball could be invented now, today,
I'd like some entertainment, to make me shout & cheer
But Bethlehem's the same old place year after boring year!
Martha & her mother are sweeping
& kneading some bread dough.
"Well that's it, Martha, the last bed is taken & the straw mattresses are all on the floor. Said Martha's mother, "We just cannot fit another traveller in this inn tonight!"
"Will you go put the NO ROOM sign up outside please?" Asked Mother. "Having this government census has been good for business I guess. It's certainly not boring here tonight!" Martha's mother said wearily.
Martha went and put the sign up......Then there was a knock at the door.
"Martha, you go....tell them I'm sorry, but that's it....there's no room in the inn" called Martha's Mother.
There's No Room at the Inn
There's no room in the inn, Oh what can be done?
There's no room at the inn, It's really not much fun!
We'll freeze outside, we can't stay there
Won't someone help or don't they care?
There's no room at the inn, Oh what a fix we're in!
There's no room in the inn, I wish we'd brought a tent,
There's no room in the inn, a place we need to rent,
The inns are soon to overflow, there's nowhere else for us to go
There's no room in the inn, Oh what a fix we're in!!
"MUM!!, we've GOT to find an extra place: there's this lady outside & she's going to have a baby real soon....her husband looks so worried." cried Martha.
"Goodness me, I don't run a maternity hospital you know!
"Oh dear, you're right Martha, we'll have to find somewhere for them!" replied her mother.
"What about the stable? I swept it out this afternoon & spread clean straw for the animals." asked Martha.
"Great!!!, here's a lantern, take them around the back way & tell them I'll keep some water on the boil!!!!"
said her mother.
Martha lead Mary & Joseph to the stable.
