I no longer have pictures, except in my heart...They were lost in a fire, ten years ago.
My wife, Sarah Anne and my darling daughter, Sarah Jean, were killed on a country road, by a drunk driver being chased by police. Sarah Anne was 5' 5", with dark long hair. Sarah Jean was just learning to walk and had the cutest smile. She would toddle up to me and smile. She would have been a killer teen by now.
My best friend, George, age 37 was the driver of the car we were all in. He was taking us for a drive in the country, when we heard the sirens. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, the other car came and I last remember looking over where my wife and daughter had been sitting and seeing only a mess of blood, then I awoke in the hospital with two nurses looking down at me. I asked about my wife and daughter and they gave me the news.
As the days passed, I wanted to see the drunk. I remember him being jailed for a month, here in Ottawa. This past time, Jan 1998, he lost his license. He has many, many prior convictions for drunk driving... And when I went to see him, he recognized me. We all went to view him and all we could do was just stare in rage. This rage has cost me repeated temporary layoffs from work over the years. Don't you think its time to stop the lunacy?
Drunk driving never hits a family more than once...

To this day, the mear mention of drinking and driving sends me into an uncontrollable rage. I feel, that those who drink and drive, should be forced to see the pain they have caused by the lives they have ended...
