MY BEST FRIEND

Everyday we laughed together, shared our dreams,
discussed our families
Complained about little things
that didn't really matter.

We didn't need to speak to be heard,
Best friends.
We shared the growth of our children,
family illnesses, family tragedies,
family triumphs and we were one.

Together we built a bond-,
It was if we had been born sisters.
Time changes and swiftly moves to undo
all that hearts have joined.

We no longer live close together,
and the distance seems wider
than I'd ever imagined.

I think of you every day
and make a note to tell you,
some trivial thing
that no one else would understand.

I do not see you
or talk to you everyday
but you are here in my heart
and in the person that I have become.

We are still one though distance
has changed us. And I know that
through happiness, sadness and life's
uncertainties I have one constant
Best friend
Someone who understands me
without saying a word.
