Most of us love Halloween. The chance to dress up, to scare our little sister, to eat eat lots of candy, and maybe (just maybe) stay up a little later than usual. Whether you trick or treat out in town, around base housing, or in the local mall it is always a lot of fun. On this page you'll find some costume ideas for fun and scary costumes for this year, some safety tips to make sure you are here to come back and look at my page some more (hehehe), and a few care package ideas to help dad (or mom) celebrate even if he(or she) can't be with you this Halloween. So lets get started!!

Keeping Safe

I know you'd rather be reading about costume ideas or candy but this really is important. So...bear with me and after this we'll get to the fun stuff. I just want to make sure you guys are able to come back and visit again!

1 Candy - don't eat your candy until after you get home and your mommy or daddy looks it over.

2 Younger kids shouldn't wear masks....try using makeup on thier faces instead!

3 ALWAYS carry a flashlight with you and if you are wearing a costume that is all dark colors and plan on trick or treating outside...use some florescent tape on the back of it in a few places so cars will be able to see you better.

4 Even though you are big kids now, don't go trick or treating with out an adult and NEVER wander off or leave with someone you don't know. Stay close to the adult you are with.

5Make sure your costume is safe. Don't wear costumes that are too baggy or way to big. They can trip you up and cause accidents. Wear a pair of sneakers or comfortable shoes. (You'll be doing lots of walking)

Care Package Ideas

Just because your mom or dad is deployed is no reason that they can't celebrate halloween with you. Here are lots of ideas of things you can put in a care package to help them celebrate too.
Pumpkins- you can buy little baby pumpkins at most pumpkin patches near where they sell the gourds. Decorate it with markers and VOILA! a mailable pumpkin your dad(or mom) will LOVE!

Candy-Lots of candy!!!! Make sure though that it won't melt...so try to avoid chocolate. Instead of mailing it in the bags it comes in though..for a cool touch....why not put the candy in a little plastic pumpkin or those halloween candy bags they sell. Why not take a brown sandwhich bag and decorate it yourself.

Cookies- believe it or not you can mail cookies! So have your mommy help you whip up a batch of sugar cookies. When the batter is ready, roll it out and use pumpkin or bat shaped cookie cutters to make halloween shapes!

Decorations- make daddy his own mask, with construction paper make him pumpkins, ghosts, and bats to hang around his room, how about some plastic spiders or a tape of scary sounds. Make a tape of yourself singing the halloween songs you learn at school or a scary halloween story your teacher told you.

Pictures- Plan out your costumes early. That way you can put them on and take lots of pictures of you in your costumes to mail to Daddy (or mommy) so that on halloween night he can look at the pictures. Video- If you have a video camera make sure to shoot lots of video on Halloween day and night...to mail to daddy(or mommy) soon after the holiday is over.

some halloween recipes for the carepackages-just remember cakes and jello don't mail well! (hehehe)
