The Yankees have always been My favorite baseball team. I was born in New York and as a kid would always watch the Yanks play on television. The Yankees of the late 70s were the first athletes I truly followed. These teams gave Me many memories which I still hold on to today. I still remember clearly the day Thurman Munson was killed in a plane accident. He will always remain My favorite yankee and Im thankful that I had the opportunity to see him play.
Opening day 1999 was special for Me as I finally got to see the Yanks play in person instead of being at home watching the TV. I drove 6 hours to the Oakland Colieseum in the rain so I could be there. I got to see the first rain shortened game in Oakland since 1971 and the Yanks lost the game. Not a perfect day but I wouldnt trade it for anything. I was there to see Roger Clemens throw his first pitch as a Yankee- I hope he throws many more.
