GREECE-2001
NATO is being tested by a local conflict between Greece
and Turkey over Cypress.
Turkish forces have landed on Cypress and have
forced the UN Peace Keepers to leave the island.
Fearing a Greek counter offensive, the Military despots in
Turkey have invaded several of the Greek Sovereign Islands in the Aegean.
NATO has suspended Turkish participation in the alliance
and has moved to bolster the Greek armed forces with a massive show of strength
which will serve to reinforce UN economic sanctions. It's hoped that Turkish
coup leaders will restore the democratically elected socialist government of
imprisoned President Abdul Harem Jubbah.
It's Argentina and Falkland Islands revisited in the Mediterranean.
USS GRANT and the CVN-84 Battle Group's CVW-25 &
5MAW have arrived on station near Mikonos to assist in the counter
offensive.

MISSION OBJECTIVE: FIXED GUN BATTERY
GENERAL
QUARTERS!--- ALL HANDS MAN YOUR BATTLE STATIONS
The Royal Hellecian Navy is evacuating Greek troops from a failed landing on
the Turkish Coast.
Its safe passage to the Mediterranean Sea is blocked by two enormous radar
guided 20" fixed gun emplacements on the Island of Navarone guarding the
sea lanes from the Aegean.
Navarone is held by German Mercenary occupation forces.
The Turks and the Germans will try hard to destroy the Greek fleet as it
makes its escape.
CVW-25 has been tasked to destroy the Navarone fortress before the Greek
ships fall within range of its guns.
