Blessings from God
Blessings from God come in so many forms. Ive found that in
my own limited thinking I tend to expect blessing to be in
monetary terms. At least I wish it were. When things are
going rough financially I am tempted to look to God and ask
why He is not blessing us.
However, let's look at true blessings from God.
First of all God says children are a blessing. These days I
have found that even Christians have forgotten the great
blessing that children are. Christian women routinely put
themselves on birth control just because they dont want the
"hassle"...not for health reasons. When my husband and I
were first married my friends actually looked disapprovingly
on us because we had decided not to use the pill! Have we
all forgotten how God said that children are a blessing and
that He wishes us to have children? If all the Christians
quit having kids who's left? Sadly many of these same
friends...who I still value highly...had a very hard time
giving birth when they did finally decide to start a
family. As we adults know there are other, less medicinal
ways to regulate such things and of course we will not go
into detail here. As I've gotten older I have come to
believe that if as a couple you believe you cannot afford to
have children then perhaps you are not yet ready to be
married. Perhaps it would be better to get yourself
financially stable before marriage, instead of blocking
God's blessing after marriage.
Another thought...good health is a blessing from God.
Perhaps you do not have much money. I know we have been and
are in that situation right now. I realize though that God
has blessed our family with good health so that we do not
have added medical bills on top of everything else.
These are just a couple of non-monetary blessings that I
thought of...but there are SO many more. Perhaps it would
be a good idea to just stop and list all the good things in
your life whenever you start to worry or feel rather
neglected by God. You will see that He has indeed blessed
you richly as He promised.
