Somewhere in Italy, in Lombardia, there is a village called "Montebello Della Battaglia". Situated south of the river Po, on the border of the Appenines range. The region is known as the OltrePo' Pavese. Outside the village, on the crest of the hill, live some strange folks, speak a language foreign to the locals, although they can speak Italian (somehow!), they have these enormous hounds which roam their lands....
Two angels(?) Marcelle in her dreams!
First steps, come on, go for it! Tara
Hi, meet the clan! We live in this wonderful area, well the rest of us. Our first daughter Marcelle, is married and live in Belgium with 3 children (Anais, Kimberley and Ciaràn). Tara, n°2 daughter, is studying law in Louvain-La-Neuve (Belgium). Paddy Jr, our son is still with us and study computer science. Irene, my wife and I (Paddy) both enjoy raising Irish Wolfhounds and taking care of our small vineyard.
I was born in Burundi where I spent my youth. My father was belgian and my mother irish ( I have dominant irish genes!). My hobbies and interest are: aviation , computer, celtic culture, Guinness, Bushmills whiskey, horses and of course Irish Wolfhounds and a good glass of wine with my meals! Putting all that together, what do you get: A tired celtic (irish) warrior on his horse with a couple if Irish wolfhounds on his side. He is roaming through a vineyard holding a pint of Guinness laced with Irish whiskey, looking at bird flyings and wondering when the computer will be invented so he could enjoy a decent flight simulator!
Irene is irish, born outside Belfast but today her folks live in Newcastle, Co. Down. She is a Registered Mental Nurse (UK) and hold also the Luxembourg Diploma for Psychiatric Nursing (Yes we did lived there also!). She is using all these qualifications to put up with a guy like me! We have been married for over 30 years and and still looking forward for the next 50 years to come!
Paddy Jr was born in Gadsden (Alabama-USA- Sure, we lived there also!) He is tall young lad of 15 years old. He is gargoyle crazy and science fiction mad. He dreams of Harley's and whatever a lad of his age would dream about(!)

Home Sweet Home

Our house and vineyard. The hilly strip, prior to reach the actual Appennines, is the actual wine country. The exceptional red wines, the high quality and the different types of white wines, both still and sparkling, the fact that being the natural birth place of the italian sparkling wines from black, grey and white pinot grapes, all combine to make the Oltrepo Pavese district one of the most important in the field of italian wine production. If you do pass in the region, come and visit us and more important is the annual wine fair in Casteggio, usually held the last week end of August. A real must as the starting point for the wine road of Oltrepo Pavese. We have the variety called Barbera, its robe is strong ruby red, limpid, brilliant, the bouquet is winy but with age takes a characteristic perfume and its flavour is palatably dry, with body, slightly tannic, acidulous and can be lively ( frizzante). A typical alcohol level would be 11.5-12 deg, my production however reaches 12.5 to 13 deg. The wine is produced through a process which is 100% natural and does not contains any additives nor products of conservation.
