The TYSON GENEALOGY NETWORK is a loose, non-profit organization of 75+ Tyson cousins that extend from New York to California. The genesis of the group can be traced back to 1980 when a series of Tyson family reunions in Texas brought together several that became the core of this Network. Beginning in 1992, TGN has held annual meetings that are devoted to the exchange of family data.

Because of its importance to the Tyson family history, the 1997 meeting was held in Anson County, North Carolina. Mathias Tyson, the descendant of John and Susannika Tyson first migrated to NC from the eastern shores area of Virginia. Jehu and Mildred Tyson are buried in the Tyson - Wheless Cemetery which we visited in Ansonville

As a result of these meetings and other means of data exchange, TGN has accumulated a large (but incomplete) computerized Tyson data base.

The decision was made at the 1997 meeting in Wadesboro, North Carolina to create a TGN Home Page on the Internet. The purpose of this Web presence is to attract other Tyson researchers who might be interested in the activities of the Network and in becoming a part of this very active Tyson research team.

The accuracy of all information is certainly not guaranteed. It will be updated as additions and corrections are made.
