It is with heavy heart that I update this site. Regular visitors
here know that Wendy has been fighting a very tough battle with
cancer. It is with regret that I inform you she has lost that
battle. Her website is still here and will remain here in loving
memory of such a wonderful, caring, loving woman it was my
absolute privilege to know. God speed, Wendy. You are sadly
missed, but you will never be forgotten.

FORT FAIRFIELD - Wendy J. Burns, 41, died September 23, 1998,
at a Presque Isle hospital after a long illness. She was born
May 27, 1957, at Bangor, the daughter of Owen K. and Pauline E.
(Sears) Grass. Wendy was a longtime resident of Fort Fairfield,
a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1975, and
attended Barrington College in Rhode Island, as well as the
University of Maine at Presque Isle. For many years, she was a
member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Fort Fairfield and was
currently attending the Wesleyan Church of Easton. She was a
loving mother, daughter, sister and friend and she loved the
Lord with all her heart. She was employed with Catholic Charities
of Maine since 1989 and in 1994 she became jail diversion youth
services coordinator for Aroostook County. In 1997, she was
co-sponsor of the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.
She was also peer educator for breast and cervical cancer for
approximately one year. She was a certified foster parent. She
was predeceased by a brother, Gregory K. Grass on January 24, 1991.
In addition to her parents of Fort Fairfield, she is survived by
three very special daughters, Amiee E., Rachel S. and Courtney N.
Burns, all of Fort Fairfield; four brothers, Larry O., Dale N.,
and Nicky B. Grass, all of Fort Fairfield, Jim F. Grass and his
wife, Sharon of Presque Isle; one niece, Kelly Canney; two nephews,
Jayson LaCroix and Matthew Grass. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday,
September 25, at Dorsey Funeral Home, 44 Lower Main St.,
Fort Fairfield. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m.
Saturday, September 26, at Bethel Baptist Church, Fort Fairfield,
with the Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. Interment will be in
Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Friends who wish may
contribute in the memory of Wendy to the Wendy J. Burns Memorial
