Candle On the Water

Laurie's Message

Wendygirl, words cannot express the heaviness and sorrow in my heart at the thought of what you are feeling during this time and the great pain and suffering you are having to endure due to this terrible disease.

As friends and family of ours suffer with lupus, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other various illnesses, I struggle to understand as I look heavenward and ask, "Why, Dear Lord?"

Even though I have been away from "The County" for over a year now, you have always been in my heart, my thoughts, and prayers. I miss picking up the phone at the Department of Corrections and hearing, "Correct me, baby!" You were always a joy to talk to, and no matter how bad my day was going, a call from you would definitely improve it. Your up-beat attitude always amazed me, and your infectious laughter still rings in my ears. E-mail made it easier for us to keep in contact, but it just isn't the same as hearing your voice.

I wish there was a way I could help you physically overcome this terrible time in your life and take away your pain, but I can only leave it in God's hands and try to understand and accept His plan for you. However, I wanted you to know that I am here for you emotionally and spiritually, Wendygirl. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I consider you to be one of the dearest rainbows in my life, and I hope that you will reach out to me for anything you need that I can provide.

I love you, Wendygirl!
Laurie

If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you.
And share with you its beauty
on the days you're feeling blue.
If I could build a mountain,
You could call your very own
A place to find serenity
A place to be alone.
If I could take your troubles,
I would toss them in the sea
But all these things I'm finding
are impossible for me.
I cannot build a mountain
or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best ~
A friend that's always there.
