How To Stash The New Fabric
Okay, you gave in to the wonderful fabric that was demanding that you
take it home with you. Now what? You just know that someone is going to
say something, I mean, let's face it, sometimes our families don't understand
that fabric needs good homes. This has been a topic of discussion on more
than one ocassion among the members of the quilting guild. I have listed
some of the respondes here, if you have some to add to the list, e-mail
me and I will glad to add yours to the list.
- --- Don't look in that bag! Your birthday present is in there.( the
birthday is 6 months away)
- --- Leave the bag in the truck of the car until the next morning when
you are home alone. ( just hope that your husband's car doesn't break down
and he has to take yours)
- --- Tell your family that you bought the fabric for a friend that can't
get that type in her area.
- --- Explain that the fabric was on sale and that you are saving money
by buying so much now. ( That is my husband's favorite)
- --- If you can sneak it to the laundry room and wash it right away.
That way it will blend in with the rest of your stash.
- --- Blame it on insanity, if you don't buy fabric you will go insane.
- --- Claim that you are going to make all the Christmas gifts this year.
( Never mind that it is only January )
- --- Tell your family that you are going into withdrawal and that you
needed your fabric fix. ( This is my personal favorite and I use it all
the time)
- --- Fabric? What fabric? That isn't fabric that is a new table cloth.
I just have to hem it.
- --- How could you ask such a question? Do I ask you what you bring
home? ( Go on the defensive, that way they won't get too nosey
Quilting the Quilt!
I have seen alot of information on the web about the constrution
of blocks. There is every pattern you ever wanted somewhere on the web
but I have seen very little about the part of quilting that makes a quilt!
There is 2 ways to quilt, there is machine quilting and there is hand quilting.
Machine quilting is faster but I will admit that it takes a bit of work
to get the hang of it but with time and practice you can machine quilt
and it will look as good as hand quilting. Hand quilting is nice for those
things that you want to spend alot of time and it is easy to carry with
you. The patterns here can be used for both hand and machine quilting.
Just remember that if you are going to machine quilt you must use a pattern
that can be worked in one direction at a time. This is necessary because
it is hard to move a quilt in more that one direction at a time on the
machine..
