First Waldensian in Uruguay

Since the emancipation dates of 1848, the doors are open to the waldensians who want to get out from the narrows valleys in the Piedmont, Italy, and make migration streams looking for better lands, life and ....

One of them was Jean Pierre Planchon native of Villar Pellice, who living in Marsella took a decision which would be long range.

He departued from the Niza port without a determined direction, spending six months in the trip and then, arrived to Montevideo, where he worked in a confitery. Since there, he wrote to your brother in order to induce him to come to Uruguay for a better life than in Valleys.

So, like a providential way, started the Waldenses inmigration to a country which nobody had thought, "La Republica Oriental del Uruguay".
