Buttons and Bows

Did you ever think about what you could do with all those extra buttons you've collected in a drawer, never finding exactly what piece of clothing they did come off of? Here's some simple ideas to put those buttons to good use. You can also buy bags full of buttons in the craft section of your favorite store.

Any or all of these make cute accessories in a craft or sewing room or a unique gift for a friend.

• Change the look of an old lamp or add to a new one by hot gluing colored buttons on the lampshade, either around the top and bottom edges or randomly over the entire shade.

• Hot glue buttons around a wooden picture frame for a different look.

• Arrange and glue buttons in a pattern inside a matted shadow box frame. Make two or three for with a different pattern each to hang as a group of pictures. These make a nice gift. A shadow box frame works best because of the thickness of the buttons, the glass may not fit with a regular frame.

• Sew buttons and small bows from scrap ribbon onto a little girls solid color t-shirt.

• Sew a large colored button on a yarn pony tail holder or hot glue several colored buttons on a barrett for a matching accessory.
