Fall was coming.
We could tell with the wind blowing and the air getting crisp and cool. We could see the leaves
changing colors on the tree. This was one of Jake's favorite times of the year. Fall meant that Halloween would be here soon. And one of Jake's favorite things to do before Halloween was to go visit the pumkin patch
.
Grandma and Jake were deciding when they would make their annual trip to the pumpkin patch. They made arrangements to go the following afternoon. "Are there going to be scarry things there?", Jake asked.
Grandma just smiled. Jake always asked her this question before they went. Well there might be some scary things like witches
and bats
but there will be lots of fun things there too.
The next day at the pumpkin patch Grandma and Jake noticed a big black cat
walking around. Jake went over to pet the cat. "Don't you know black cats bring bad luck?" Grandma asked. "I am not worried. I could never have bad luck while I am with you, Grandma," Jake said with confidence.
Jake and Grandma found the trail to the pumpkin patch. "I can't wait to pick out my very own pumpkin
." Jake said excitedly.
As we walked down the path something caught our attention.
"Is it a mummy?",
Jake asked. "I don't think so," I replied. "Is it a skeleton?"
Jake asked.
"I don't think so," I said again.
"Then it must be a ghost,"
Jake cried!
Grandma walked over to Jake and gave him a big hug. Lets just go see what is over there. Jake was a little scared but he wanted to be brave for his grandma so over they went. And there standing around laughing were a group of children dressed in their halloween custumes.
When Jake saw the funny clown he couldn't stop laughing. What a great halloween costume that was.
Now it was time to pick out our pumpkin for Halloween. Jake walked over to one pumpkin but said, "no, this one is too sad."
Next he went to another pumpkin and looked at it but this pumpkin was too scary.
Finially Jake went to a nice big pumpkin and with a big smile said, "this is the one!"
"This pumpkin will make a perfect Halloween Jack-O-Lantern for me and Mom and Dad."
Grandma picked up Jake's pumpkin and they went to the main barn to pay for it. As they were checking out the nice owner gave Jake a big Halloween bag full of candy.
"Thank you very much," Jake said. "See you next year". And as Grandma and Jake turned to leave Jake waved a big goodbye.
