All the decorations are made from royal icing ahead of time. I made the 10 commandments by outlining the whole design in white, as well as the Hebrew letters. Once the icing dried, I painted it with gold dust. After that dried, I went back in and filled in the rest of the design with white and red. (You might need two bags of white, as the area you need to fill in is large.) At the same time, I made the letters for on the cake. I also piped all the triangles that went around the edges of the cake. Once the triangles got hard, I added the Jewish stars.
Assembling the cake was so easy, since I had done all the hard work ahead of time. After I leveled and iced the cake, I took some of the cake scraps, and put them on one end of the cake. I covered them with icing, and set the commandments down on it. (That is how it is standing up.) I placed the letters on to spell out “Mazel Tov Avraham Moshe”, a put the triangles on the corners. The triangles around the sides were a bit tricky. I glued sugar cubes on the back of them with royal icing. The cubes had to be cut on the diagonal first. I stuck all the triangles on, and added the borders to complete the cake.
