This cake was a surprise for a lady who collects elephants. It was ironic that I used this design, as I later found out that the first elephant that she ever received was a patchwork elephant!
I baked this one in a round pan and a square pan. This is also a double layer cake. So I was nervous that the small parts would come apart. After all the pieces were attached, I covered the whole thing in pink icing. I used different colors for the patchwork parts. I used different colors around the feet for the borders to add to the patchwork theme.
The day of this party there was soooo much snow here that the man who ordered it ended up coming to my house to pick it up himself!
