This cake is made by sculpting it to be the proper shape. You bake the cake in any rectangular pan. This cake can be made as a single layer, or a double layer. You can put two cakes side by side, going in either direction. Then, to curve the top part, you cut away at the top. The part that you cut away is added at the bottom. That will give you the curves on both ends.
The stripes can be piped out of the basketweave tip in any size or color. Sometimes people bring the actual tallis for me to copy. The letter can be made from royal icing or buttercream. Pictures can be added to suit the boy’s tastes. The tzistzis on the side can be made from real string (Take 4 very long strands of thing string, fold over. Tie two knots, then wrap one of the strings around and around. After about an inch, make two more knots. There should be a total of 5 sets of those knots.). You can also make the knots out of icing, or you can skip that step altogether.
A very versatile cake!
