Three million people have taken almost 4 million CLEP
tests. From High School students, who want a head start on
college to people interested in advancing their career,
people of all ages are taking the fast track to a college
degree. Some of the advantages include, save time, save
money, bypass courses, and improve your chances for college
by giving schools clear evidence of your academic ability.
Also, there are no prerequisites for taking a CLEP based
on age, degree requirement, etc. However, you must meet your
college's specific requirements before they will accept the
credit. The outcome of your CLEP exam is sent to you so it
would not be a bad mark on your record to fail (though it
could be set to a college). Of interest, is the fact that a
young person could accumulate college credit (before he/she
is eligible for college due to age requirement, etc.) and
present college admission officers with, conceivably,
transcripts proving up to about a third of the credit required
for a degree.
If you are willing to approach studying for these
exams like an 8 hr. a day job, you may get credit
for up to one-third of a two year degree from only
a few months of study. It's, also, at a fraction of the
cost. Your current grade point average is neither
helped, nor hurt.
