You enter a forest. Tall, leafy trees grow all around, clustering close enough to form a canopy of leaves above, yet far apart enough to keep from making you feel closed in. Sunlight filters through the swaying green leaves, creating intriguing patterns of gold on the forest floor. All manner of forest creatures can be heard all around, yet you are not alarmed. After staring at a particular bunch of leaves for a while, it gradually takes on the shape of a beautiful elf girl.
She clings to the branch of the tree while returning your gaze curiously. When this staring match has gone on for about a minute, she suddenly smiles at you. In a single, graceful jump, she lands before you and curtseys prettily.
Her voice is like that of a bird, clear and sweet, "Hello, my name is Shana. This is the begining of the forest." She gestures to a faint path, "Follow this trail through the forest and you will not get lost. Behind those bushes," She points to the afore-mentioned bushes, "You will find a lake. You can visit it if you like."
After that, she clambers back onto her high perch with remarkable agility and fades back into obscurity. A birth certificate has been neatly framed and nailed to the trunk of the tree.
Push your way through the bushes.
You consider the two paths that have been pointed out carefully, wondering which one to take when you notice a different path, leading deeper into a part of the forest.
