Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
My mother is not all the romantic, sappy, glop they sell you at the card store.
My mother is special, I know, we all believe our mom's are special, but let me tell you just a few of the things that make my mom especially special.
She was a "Super Mom" before the phrase was coined. She married "too young", had children "too young", works "too hard", made "too many mistakes" and yet she never gives up.

No, she wasn't the Kool-Aid mom on the block. She worked long hard hours to support her family. She juggled a "difficult" husband, 3 pretty free thinking, independant (argumentative?) kids, gave birth to a "later in life" child (making that 4 great kids), maintained and advanced, in her full time career and yet, when I really needed her, she was there for me.

She still worries that she didn't do enough for us. Mom, you did more than enough for us. You are the reason that we see the world the way that we do, and yeah, it's a pretty terrific place in spite of all the bad press. You gave us the ability to believe in ourselves and others around us. We learned to have humor and integrity, not to pre-judge anyone, to love, to take chances and be true to our own selves and our values. You raised 4 very fine people and all of the happenings in your life have tempered you into the wonderful person you are.
So, "Super Mom"? You bet. Was it tough sometimes? Sure, but Mom? I love you and thank you for all of it!
