God's Promises

My daughter Kim once asked me how we can know if something is God's will. My answer to her was: "To know if it is His will for you to take a job or not , you will have to have a close personal relationship with Him, because that obviously is not addressed in the word. But for the major areas in life, those things that His will is the same for all people than........

  1. Look at Jesus. Jesus fulfilled the perfect will of God. The Father said " This is my beloved son in whom I am WELL PLEASED"
  2. Look in the Bible. The Bible is the will of God. Find a promise that covers your situation and then stand on it.
  3. Look at heaven, the Lord's prayer says : "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Only God's perfect will is fulfilled in Heaven.

The word says " ....from two or three witnesses let a thing be established." With those three witnesses you can be absolutely sure of God's will in the major areas of life. For instance let's look at two areas, healing and prosperity.

Healing: Is healing always God's will? Some say no but let's go through the three witnesses and see.

  1. Jesus- Did Jesus ever decline to heal anyone? No He did not. When the leper came to Jesus and said " I know you can make me well if you will ." Jesus immediately said," I will"( Mark 1: 40 - 41) (If you can find ANY scripture reference proving that Jesus refused to heal someone , I wanna see it. )
  1. The Word - I am not going to write out every scripture. I will just give the reference. You look them up and see what they say.

Deuteronomy 28 : 1- 68 ( this chapter will establish once and for all what is a blessing and what is a curse.) Galatians 3: 13 ( this tells us we{Christians} have been redeemed from the curse spoken about in Deut. 28 ); John 10:10; Acts 10 : 38; 3 John 2; Malachi 4:2 ; Matt. 4: 23; Matt. 9: 35; Luke 9: 6; Luke 9: 11; 1 Cor. 12: 9; Psalms 67: 6; Proverbs 3:8, 4:22, 13:17, and 16:24

3. And finally , Is there any sickness in heaven? NO there is not!

" From two or three witnesses let a thing be established!"

Therefore sickness is not God's will for a Christian! Never let anyone tell you that God teaches us by making us sick or withholding healing. The Holy Spirit was sent to be our teacher NOT sickness. Isa 54:15a says : If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;...." Sickness is an attack and it is not from God. Sickness is part of the curse for disobeying the law ( Deut. 28) We have been redeemed from the curse of the law! ( Gal. 3:13)

Prosperity: Is it God's will for us to prosper?

  1. Jesus said in Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (NIV)

Do you know what is good news to a poor man? That he doesn't have to be poor anymore, and that God will meet all his needs.!!!!!!!!!

2. Here is a list of scriptures for you to look up and see.

I think Psalms 35: 27 says it best. : 27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Jehovah be magnified, who hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. 28 And my tongue shall talk of thy righteousness (and) of thy praise all the day long. (ASV)

That is pretty clear huh? God delights in the prosperity of His servant. How much more will he delight in the prosperity of His sons and daughters?

Deuteronomy 28 : 1- 68 ( look closely and you will see that poverty is under the curse. ) Gal. 3: 13 ; Phil. 4: 19 ; Romans 13:8 ; Ps. 37: 4 ; Heb. 10: 23: Ps. 34: 10; Ps. 35: 27 -28 ; Luke 12: 15; Ps. 23:1 ; Malachi 3: 8 - 11; Matt. 6: 33 ; Joshua 1: 8; Isaiah 1: 19, Isaiah 55: 11; 2 Cor. 8:9 ; 1 Cor. 2: 5. Proverbs 3: 9

If you want some more references write me and I will send you the whole list ( there are a lot more than just this.).

3. And finally will anyone be poor in heaven? I don't think so...... Jesus said " In my Father's house are MANY mansions!" The streets are lined with gold and the walls are made of gemstones. Doesn't sound poor to me. How about to you? As a matter of fact I think everyone would agree that poverty in heaven is a ludicrous thought.

I think it is now pretty obvious that it is indeed the Lord's will that we prosper. But He does want us to prosper properly and for the right reasons. True prosperity means having all your needs met and having enough to be a blessing to others. It does not mean having 8 houses costing well over a million each while there are people living in cardboard boxes. That is not a blessing to you or anyone else. That is the world's way of doing things.

God wants us to have good things but we are to seek his kingdom not those things. Money is for giving away not for keeping! Boy that sounds strange doesn't it? But that is how God works. 2 Cor 9:8 says : "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. "(NIV) We are given to so that we can give to others. And as we give to others they give to us. And so the cycle of blessing is continued.

God said in Deut 30:19 "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live ."(NIV)

You see, it is OUR choice whether to live with a blessing or a curse. God told US to choose. And He told us which choice is His will for us. Deut. 28 tells us what the curse is and what the blessing is. You just can't get any plainer than that.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. I choose life and blessings. What will you choose today?
