Thor was diagnosed with autism at 19 months. At that time, he was unresponsive to his environment. He didn't react to pain. He could not speak, nor communicate in any way with us, other than screaming and crying.
He spent 12 months in an Early Intervention program, with speech therapy, occupational therapy, and cognitive therapy. Now, at 3 1/2 yrs of age, he can use sign language to request things from us. He has learned how to deal with his aversion to handling food and silverware, and can now feed himself. That was a GIANT step for him.
Here is Marlane, she is the best speech therapist EVER!!
He laughs with us now, he plays peekaboo. He loves to cuddle and tickle. Thor is making progress and we are so very proud of him for his hard work!! Thor will have to work hard for the rest of his life to overcome his various challenges, but we know he will do well. Please enjoy the pictures of our precious son.
Papa came back from Sweden... he thinks Thor has grown a lot!
Thor cried so hard when he had to say 'bye-bye'
