Hacking/Showing | Dreaded Judges | Show Journal | Show Preparation | Horse Make-Up | Quarter Marks | Show Checklist

Introduction to Showing:
Around the world, the term 'showing' will mean different things in different places. For example, showing in North America may apply to hunter classes, dressage, western or american saddlebred classes etc. In Australia and England, showing mainly applies to ridden and led classes (eg. hacking) Wherever the term applies, showing has one thing in common- competition. Riders gather to compete against eachother for the highest placings. Judges will always be present in order to chose the winner and showing requires both an investment in training before hand and consideration for presentation.

At present, I have only thoroughly covered 'hacking'. If anyone is willing to contribute an article on any other form of showing, I would REALLY appreciate it- if so, please email me

The horse on the background is a very successful hack in the Australian show circuit- his name is Erte, ridden by Dale Plumb. The horse on the title is a very successful pony in the Australian show circuit- named Kirreway Xplorer, also ridden by Dale Plumb.
