Prayer: "2"

Bible Scripture: 1 Samuel 3: 9
Speak, Lord, for your servant hears...


Almighty God, I dedicate this day to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You. I am challenged by the realization that the Hebrew meaning of "walk humbly" is "to walk attentively" and so I commit my mind and heart to listen attentively to You.

Speak to me so that what I speak may be an echo of Your voice, which has sounded in the depth of my receptive soul. In the din of the cacophony of voices demanding my attention and the pressure of self-seeking forces willfully dominated by self-interest, help me to seek to know and do Your will for what is best for those around me.

Lord, grant me the greatness of a mind tuned to the frequency of the Spirit's guidance. Free me of any tenaciously held opinions that may not have been refined by careful listening to You. Be with me, lest I forget to listen to You.
