My name is Tina, and I live east of Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Dayton, Ohio. My father was J. B. Myers. He was born in Columbus, Ohio. He died in 1995. My dads father, and my grandfather was REV. James Benjamin Myers born 6/3/1899 in Shanesville, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Died 1/16/1957 in Dayton, Ohio. He lived on Gettysburg Ave at the time of his death, and pastor of the Gettysburg Avenue Church of the Nazarene. Services were held at Banta funeral home, 3419 W. Third Dayton, Ohio ., by The Rev. Donald Snow. Burial took place in Bear Creek cemetery. Grandpa Myers died unexpectedly on a Wednesday morning at his residence.  He had been a Dayton resident for seven years.  He had been pastor of the Gettysburg Ave church since its organization two years before his death. Previously for a year he had conducted a mission in quarters at Fairport school.  He was a former resident of Columbus. His wife and my Grandmother was Corda Beal born 6/9/1901 in Ohio died Jan. 18, 1989. They were married in Columbus on Nov. 25, 1936. (My Great Great Grandfather) John G. Myers was born 6/27/1838, died 10/11/1880. He married (My Great Great Grandmother) Rosanna Bowers born Feb. 22, 1840, died March 9, 1876. They had a son (my Great Grandfather) John Colwell Myers born in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. 3/9/1871. Died 7/15/1934. He married (my Great Grandmother) Francis Tracy Gurney (born Oct. 4, 1872 in Sandy Twp.Stark County, Ohio, Waynesburg post office box.) in Indiana County, Pennsylvania on 3/16/1892 they had 10 children. Francis`s father's name was (My Great Great Grandfather) George William Gurney, born in Alsace Lorraine, France in 1824. Her mother's name was (My Great Great Grandmother) Anna Haney, Born in Bern, Switzerland in 1834. They are both buried in Carroll Co. Ohio. In the 1870 census, They lived in Sandy Twp. Stark County, Ohio. Waynesburg Post office box. GGGranpa George is 45 years old, and a farm laborer, and GGGrandma Ann is 42, same Anna but age don`t jive with birthdate, but it does in 1880 census. She is also listed as being a housewife. They had a daughter Jane Gurney, age 11, born in Illinois. A daughter Elizabeth Gurney, age 9, born in Ohio. A son Frank Gurney age 5, born in Ohio, who's name in the 1880 census is Franklin Gurney. A daughter Laura Gurney, age 2, (Laura`s age also doesn`t jive with the 1880 census) born in Ohio and a son Robert W Gurney. age 5 months born in Ohio, in the month of June. Robert W. has me stumped because he isn`t listed in the 1880 census. In the Ohio 1880 census, they lived in Brown Twp. Carroll County, Ohio. GGGrandpa George Gurney is listed as being 56 years old. GGGrandma Anna is listed as being 45 and a housekeeper. They had a son Franklin, age 15. A daughter Laura, age 18. A son William Gurney, age 10. (HOLD IT! THIS MUST BE MY MISSING ROBERT W. GOING BY HIS MIDDLE NAME. W. MUST STAND FOR WILLIAM!!!!) (MYSTERY SOLVED!!!!!! NOW ON TO THE REST OF THE MYSTERIES). Another daughter, My GGrandma Francis Gurney, age 8. All of these children were born in Ohio. GGGrandpa George and GGGrandma Anna disappeard in 1900 census, unless they were living with family. I have a copy, of record of birth from probate court for Frances. It states that her name is Frances Terace Gurney born Oct. 4, 1872 in Stark co. Sandy Twp. Ohio. Father, Geo. Gurney. Mother Anna Hinna. Residence of Sandy Twp.
