THE SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS

The sounds of Christmas,
merry sounds that please the ear,
Sound that comes just once a year.
Telling us "it's Christmas time again".

The sounds of Christmas,
Harness bells shake and ring,
Carolers a caroling,
Sound of snow against a window pane.
Snap and crackle of the yuletide log
Popcorn popping in the grate.
Neighbors knocking at the old front door,
Drop in to help celebrate.

The sounds of children,
Laughing sounds of girls and boys,
Playing with their Christmas toys
Silver bells that tingle on the tree.
But of all the sounds of Christmas
No sweeter sound could be
Than the Merry Christmas kisses
that my love gave me.

The sounds of Christmas,
Laughing sounds of girls and boys
Playing with their Christmas toys
Favorite hymns that live in memory.
But of all the sounds of Christmas
No Sweeter sound could be
Than the Merry Christmas kisses
that my love gave me.

This song was released on the Mercury label by the same name,
"The Sounds Of Christmas" in 1963, the first Christmas with my husband.
Jerry Livingston and Paul Francis Webster wrote the music and lyrics.
Other lyrics by Mr. Webster include "The Twelfth of Never", "A Certain Smile",
"Secret Love" and "The Shadow of Your Smile" to name just a few. Jerry Livingston
wrote other fun songs such as "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" from
Cinderella, "77 Sunset Strip" and "Casper The Friendly Ghost".
