To Annie's Gardens

There is nothing quite like nature. It's beauty is never-ending,the contrasts of the seasons, strength and fragility balanced together. Thankfully many people have started to realize that we cannot destroy our surroundings, that we should be ashamed of our actions and that perhaps nature holds the answer and solutions to many of our problems. I want to leave a better world for my son and for his children.... an important part of that is how I inter-react with the soil under my feet. Please recycle, reuse, and be responsible. :) Annie

The grass on the front lawn where we lived in downtown London never grew..so we replaced it with a garden. It Started with just a few wildflowers in the center and grew until the whole front lawn was all flowers.

The Vegetable Garden

Another view of the veggie garden.I do down everything I can from the garden, swiss chard, tomatoes(which i dehydrate, freeze and make into sauce),beans, onions, carrots, squash, etc.Every fall my husband fills the garden with all the maple leaves off our trees and he rototills them into the soil.Every spring he re-rototills everything and all the kitchen produce waste that has been thrown onto the garden gets tilled into the soil also.

Carolina Tulip Tree
When I was a child this tree used to bloom about ecery 6 or seven years. Now it blooms every year but it is in bad shape and we are trying to track down another one to plant in its place. It is an unusual tree for south-western Ontario.I would hate to lose it as it reminds me of my childhood.

If we give to nature she will return her bounty to us.Anyone can grow a garden,no matter how big or small ..even if you can grow in planters.Bright colours attract the birds and the butterfly's and provide them with the nector that they need to survive. Plant a tree to remember someone or to celebrate a birth etc.It costs very little to help keep our planet green.

(more to come)........
