Francis M. Blevins resided in Ashe County and enlisted in Company K at the age of 19 on August 15, 1862. He was wounded in the foot at Chancellorsville May 1-3, 1863. He returned to duty prior to July 3-5, 1863, when he was captured at or near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. First confined at Fort Delaware, Blevins was transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, on October 15-18, 1853. He was paroled at Point Lookout on February 18, 1865, and transferred to Boulware's Wharf, James River, Virginia, where he was received on or about February 20, 1865, for exchange. Private Blevins is buried in the Azen Cemetery in Smyth County, Virginia.
