YOUR INDIAN HOME.
Albemarle District Pasquotank Village/Roanoke Village news letter
In January our chapter was the first to complete the Outer Historical Trail. This is an Old Trail on the Outer Banks in Dare County that was established for scouts and was last done in the late seventies. We had nine scouts and seven adults to complete the trail and recive the patches and metal. It's nice to be first especially when it's in our chapter area. It was good place to start on your Pastport requirements. In the March Ordeal our members grew with thirteen youth and one adult. Our chapter has twenty eight youth and five adults that have been called out as of now with more unit elections to follow. With attendance at the meetings growing and we're on the move with plans for up and coming events. The Pasquotank Village is going to clean up the site for Relay for Life Ralley at Northeastern High School. The Roanoke Village has an active and a great turn out at the meetings and we'll all be together at a meeting soon at Camp Maple for a weekend cook out. Shawn P Albemarle Chapter
REMINDER: Don't forget the OA Meetings on the first and second Tuesdays of each month. Your dues are delinquent if they haven't been paid before the last day of January. Come and join our meetings and learn/plan for the year ahead. Hope to see you at the meeting. Chaserofbears@ hotmail.com
Starting the first Tuesday in February, the division of the Albemarle chapter will have only two villages, one on the Outer Banks and one on the mainland.
Once a quarter the Chapter will meet together, rotating from Pasquotank Village to Roanoke Village. This will help us join together as a chapter and function better to accomplish the goals we set.
The above changes were passed before the new lodge advisor and met with his approval.
The village concept is not to divide our chapter into counties but to save the people on the outer banks from a monthly four and half hour round trip to come to a meeting.
It is past time for unit elections to get started and we have only a few dates left as of 20 January. Every unit that has youth meeting the requirements should have an election. It is the responsibility of each leader to see that youth have the opportunity to participate in all Scouting programs. Let's not be the one who doesn't give youth the chance to join our lodge if elected.
