I am the oldest of three girls. My parents are here in Houston as are my two sisters. We all live within close proximity to one another. Both of my sisters are married with families of their own. I am the "old maid", I guess you could say. I truly enjoy my single status, however if it is in the Lord's plans for me to marry at some point in time, I will do so with great joy. For now, I enjoy just being KIM!
I have 2 neices; Shannon and Rachel. I also have two nephews, both of which are named Dale! Dale Wayne and Charles Dale! My dad's name is Dale, so both sisters have named their sons after him, I guess to make up for him having three girls!
I enjoy spending time with my family. I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with them, and that we are all in the same town!
I have lived in Texas since 1968, when my family moved here. I was starting 6th grade then and I went through High School here in Houston, graduating from Scarborough Jr-Sr. High. I attended Texas Woman's University, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Science, my Major being Nursing. For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a "NURSE". I always got the little "Nurse's Kits" for birthdays and Christmas! So I had no trouble deciding what I was going to study in college!
Before I actually graduated from college, I started working at MD Anderson Cancer Center and worked there for 24 years, resigning in May 2003. My leaving there after this long is going to allow me to pursue my calling into Ministry. I am currently attending Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. I hopefully will graduate in May, 2005 with a Master's Degree of Divinity, and be on the path to becoming an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church.
I am a member of St. Stephens UMC however, I am currently serving my internship at St.Timothy's UMC. I also attended Westchase United Methodist Churchfor approximately 5 years where in my various capacities I was Choir Director and Lay Leader.
I grew up in the Methodist Church. I guess you could say I started there before I was born! All through Jr. and Sr. High School I attended St.Stephen's UMC where I was active in UMYF and all the activities that were available to youth. During High School, we did a musical, "LightShine". That was a wonderful experience, and gave me an appreciation for music. It was during this time that I also learned to play guitar, something that I still do today.
