| They call me Critter. My real name is Foxy Critter, because I'm a pretty foxy cat! I'm almost 15 years old and I've got my masters doing just about whatever I want. I was born at Claytor Lake, Virginia and came to live in Pulaski, Virginia when I was six weeks old. I love to stay outside, but when it gets cold and the wind blows, I stay in my basket. |
| I have my own room with my bed in a big wicker laundry basket. Well, actually, my room is where the lawn mower is kept, but I allow the mower to share my room. We get along fine and sometimes, I perch on the seat of the mower so that I can look out the window. When I'm not sleeping, I explore the woods round my home and sometimes I bring home very special surprises that I have captured for my masters. I always bring it to the door and leave it on the doormat so they can admire my catches. Sometimes, I even get to share it with company when they come to visit and find these little treasurers on the mat. |
| When I was eight years old, I met with an accident and lost my left eye. My masters don't know how this happened, but I do. Wish I could tell them. But, they took good care of me and took me to the doctor. The doctor did the very best he could, but it turned out that I lost my eye. I've learned to manage just fine with only one eye. When spring arrives, I'm outside all day! What fun! I spend lots of fun time watching the fish in the pond. How I would love the get hold of those little characters, but I know that I can't swim, so I just have to be content with watching them swim back and forth. I love poking my head into rabbit holes. While rabbit hunting, I caught myself a warble. Ever hear of one?? Me neither. But, off to the vet I went...again. Had a little surgery to get the thing out of my jaw. Spent the night in the recovery room...but, that's all over now and I'm back rabbit hunting. When the weather gets cooler and the days shorter, I curl up in the rocker and have a snooze. |
