Wise Words
Come, open your mind and take a few moments to read these messages and let the words sink into your heart.

...Love Is Patient, Love Is Kind...
It Does Not Envy,It Does Not Boast, It Is Not Proud...
It Is Not Rude, It Is Not Self-Seeking...
It Is Not Easily Angered...It Keeps No Record Of Wrongs...
Love Does Not Delight In Evil But Rejoices With The Truth...
It Always Protects... Always Trusts... Always Hopes... Always Perseveres...
Love Never Fails...
~1 Corinthians 13:4-8~

If you always give . . . You will always have. --Chinese Proverb

All things are connected like the blood that unites us. We did not weave the web of life. We are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves" --Chief Seattle

In Memory of my brother Edward A. Barr
One Solitary Life
He was born in an
obscure village.
He worked in a carpenter
shop until he was thirty.
He then became a
itinerant preacher.
He never held an office.
He never had a family or
owned a house
He didn't go to college.
He had no credentials
but himself.
Nineteen centuries have
come and gone, and today
He is the central
figure of the human race.
All the armies that
ever marched,
and all the navies that
ever sailed,
all the parliaments that ever sat,
and all the kings that
ever reigned
have not affected the life
of man on this earth
as much as that

Mourning Dove
... everything on the earth has a purpose,
every disease and herb to cure it, and every person
a mission. This is the Indian theory of existence. --Mourning
Dove (1888-1936)

Black Elk
You have noticed that everything an Indian does
is in a circle, and that is because the Power of the
World always works in circles, and everything tries to be
round... The sky is round like a ball, and so are all the
stars. The wind, in its greatest power, whirls. Birds
make their nests in circles, for theirs is the same
religion as ours... Even the seasons form a great circle
in their changing, and always come back again to where
they were. The life of man is a circle from childhood,
and so it is in everything where power moves.
--Black Elk (1863 -1950) Oglala Sioux Holy Man

A Prayer For The Wild Things
Oh, Great Spirit, we come to you with love and gratitude for all living things.
We now pray especially for our relatives of the wilderness-the four-legged, the
winged, those that live in the waters, and those that crawl upon the land. Bless
them, that they might continue to live in freedom and enjoy their right to be wild.
Fill our hearts with tolerance, appreciation, and respect for all living things so
that we all might live together in harmony and in peace. - by Marcellus Bear Heart
Williams

This we know. The earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth. This we know.
All things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected.
Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons and daughters of the earth. We did not weave
the web of life, We are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to
ourselves... Chief Seattle

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And that company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
And with the grace of an adult
Not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain
For your plans.
After a while you learn that even sunshine
Burns if you get too much.
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you will learn that you can endure
That you really are special
And that you really do have worth.
So live to learn and know yourself.
In doing so, you will learn to live.
