My forecats have played important roles throughout the history of mankind. Allow me to introduce you to some of my purrrsonal favorites.

Cleocatra - Treated as Goddess by her Egyptian humans, Cleo made her mark in a rather tragic way. Having thought she heard her beloved mistress say, "Hmm, nice asp..." while watching Anthony leave one morning, Cleo immediately when out and caught said reptile, and placed it in a basket of figs for her mistress to enjoy later on. The fatal results of this misinterpretation are well known. Cleo protested her innocence the rest of her life, which is why she is still known today as the Queen of Denial.

Marie Catronet - A favorite in the court of Louis XVI (or was it XVII? My dear, these Roman numerals are so distracting!) Unfortunately she had to flee for her life during the revolution. Historians disagree on whether her tactless remark, "Let them eat kibbles" or her appalling fashion sense (Really now! Rubies with a pink dress? I don't think so!) triggered the revolt. Luckier than her human counterparts, she escaped disguised as a common calico after rolling in the Queen's make-up box. She later secretly aided the Royalist cause by "helping" Madame Defage with her knitting.

Empress Josepurrrine - Beloved cat of the Emporer Napoleon, she inadvertantly inspired him to military might when she presented him with a mouse she'd caught in the barn. Not wishing to be outdone by a "mere feline" he went out and proceeded to conquer Europe. Despite his short stance and his propensity for sticking his hand in his waistcoat, (whatever was he doing, holding his pants up?) he was a smashing success until he met his Waterloo at the place of the same name. After this stinging defeat, Josepurrrine followed him into exile and comforted him during his last lonely years. At that time Napoleon changed her name to match the isle on which he was residing; however, after his death Napoleon's gardener, Able (so named by an dyslexic mother), reverted it back to reflect her true rank, thus giving rise to the palendromatic phrase "Elba was I ere I saw Able."

I'll be continuing to scratch around in the family litterbox. Come back and see who else I've uncovered!
